Alzheimer Center Amsterdam
Preventing dementia. As early as possible. That is the goal of Alzheimer Center Amsterdam, the diagnostic and treatment center for dementia, with a focus on early-onset dementia. Our mission is to make dementia discussable, treatable, and ultimately curable. Through our active role in (inter)national research, we can directly apply new insights in practice. This enables us to consistently deliver the best care to our patients.
Alzheimer Center Amsterdam is part of the Neurology department of Amsterdam UMC. The center has been in existence for more than 20 years, with more than 100 employees. Annually, we treat thousands of patients from across the country. In addition to patient care, a large portion of our staff is engaged in conducting scientific research.
The daily management of our center is led by Prof. Dr. Wiesje van der Flier (scientific director) and Prof. Dr. Yolande Pijnenburg (medical director).
